Window Board & Cill Fitting London
Window boards (also called window sills or cills) are the horizontal boards fitted to the inside of a window reveal. They provide a useful surface, protect the plasterwork and finish the window opening neatly. Doorz London supplies and fits window boards across all London boroughs.
Types Of Window Boards We Fit
Timber Window Boards
Traditional softwood or hardwood window boards. Can be painted or stained. Most common in Victorian and Edwardian London properties. We supply at trade price and fit to exact dimensions.
MDF Window Boards
Pre-primed and ready to paint. Economical, moisture-resistant MDF ideal for most London properties. Clean edges, no knots. Available in standard widths from 200mm to 500mm.
Hardwood Window Boards
Oak, pine or tulipwood for a premium finish. Suitable for varnished or oiled interiors. We source at trade price — significantly cheaper than retail.
Bay Window Boards
Bay windows require carefully mitred and joined boards that follow the bay angles. This is a specialist carpentry task that many general builders get wrong. Doorz carpenters are experienced in all bay window configurations.
Overhang & Nosing — A window board should overhang the wall below by approximately 25-30mm with a drip nosing on the underside — this prevents water running back along the wall. Doorz cuts a proper drip groove on every external-facing window board.
Replacement Window Boards
Replacing a damaged, rotted or badly fitted window board is a half-day job for a Doorz carpenter. We remove the old board, make good the reveal, fit and fix the new board, fill, sand and leave ready to paint. All 32 London boroughs covered.
